What is the max grant? – Small Business Grants Covid-19

The max grant is the maximum of the amount of funding a school can receive. In other words, a school can get more funding by bringing in more students than it spends. But the maximum Grant can be in the $50,000 to $60,000 range.

In most circumstances, schools aren’t allowed to receive more than the maximum grant that an applicant can apply for. But there are exceptions. For example, if a school wants to make extra money, it can get the full amount of the Maximum Grant. A school also needs to demonstrate that it has students in the most need of help.

If a school gets more funding than the Grant, can it get additional funds? Sure.

Under the Special Provisions in the Education Law Act, the Superintendent of Schools can set up a special fund to pick up excess Education Law Grant funding. If that happens, an additional $1,200 of extra Education Law Grant can be given to a school, which may be an increase to the Max Grant and help that school afford some more resources. That’s why it’s very important to note that it doesn’t mean that a school will necessarily make $1,200 by paying extra money to the school.

Where does the Education Law grant money come from?

Education Law Grant funds are a byproduct of the Bill of Rights Act. They’re provided by the Government as support for school funding.

However, school grant funds come from the education funding. So even if these grants were not from the education funding, the School Grants Act says that schools can receive Education Law Grant money only.

In fact, even if money falls from the Education Law (in the form of Education Levy Money), schools must use money from the Education Levy to pay for education.

Can a school receive money from a special fund?

Yes.

Under section 18 (2) and (3) of the School Grants Act, a school can obtain additional Education Law Grant money to cover the full price of a school service, including tuition. A school must only make up for additional costs.
