Not really. I think most of our classes consist or the basics of art. We don’t take formal classes.
How come you live in Las Vegas? Do you have much in the way of a social life in the city? Yeah. I live in Las Vegas. That’s basically it. My friends go to different cities. We’re friends, and we hang out. My mom’s family are here. I met my best friend from college (John Rochon), and that’s kind of it. We hang out a lot.
How much time do you spend in the studio with Arturia? When I’m in the studio, I’ll either be working or playing around with my computer.
You’re still getting some of your first taste of producing your own music, haven’t you? Yeah. I’m still doing the basics now, and I’ve only worked on the EP a few times. But I really hope to release something real soon. I’ve just been trying really hard to figure out what my ideal sound is with this EP. What should it sound like when I release it? And my ultimate goal is to really work really hard on it. I don’t want the EP to be just some throwaway thing and kind of me just doing a couple of tunes.
How long do you think it would take you to reach the commercial threshold of making good music by releasing the EP? What’s your estimation of its commercial value? I don’t know. It’s something that I want to work towards, I guess. That’s what it’s all about. It’s definitely something that I want to work towards. It would be nice to have something of a big hit, because a lot of people ask me what the next album is going to be. I say I don’t even know. My personal goal is to work to be really good, and then release an EP that’s really good, to make people want to buy it all. And to try this new idea of making the best out of what I like and what my style of playing is. So that is the goal.
You’re known for your unique sound, and you’ve been producing for quite a while. But have you always thought about branching out from it? I never really thought about it. I think that with something like Arturia, or when you hear the stuff I make, it doesn’t really matter if it’s a bass track over a synth, there’s still something happening in there that is really beautiful,
