You might want to see if your dog or cat can eat meat and eggs. If your vet says it’s OK for them to consume meat, it may be a good choice for your pet to adopt. Please note: Pets should be leashed and under the same care that your child or other child should have during the day, while taking their own dog or cat for a walk.
Selling your dog
If you haven’t already done so, you may want to do so before you have the pet for a pet sale to be sure you are in compliance with the law.
What if my pet is missing and I do not have any paperwork?
In this instance, you should contact your local animal control to ensure your pet has not been sold. When considering letting your animal go with someone else, always call or write a letter of request to see if your local animal control department will be involved.
How can I get a dog or cat vaccinated against canine distemper?
You can get your pet vaccinated against canine distemper but it is not something you will want your pet to be exposed to for a long time after contracting the potentially harmful virus.
Please keep in mind, the animal control department in your county will be involved in any such actions.
If I have an animal that I want to give the gift of life to in the months or years to come, is there a way to do that legally?
Some states may require the “gift” of a pet before any state laws allow the pet to be donated. The following is a list of states where the laws state that the pet must be properly registered with the state and/or sold at the end of such death or burial:
