Washington State has established a program to provide a health care plan for pets and their owners through the Washington State Animal Health and Medicine (WSAMP) program. The program has the following objectives: to improve the quality of life of Washington’s pets by ensuring adequate disease control, vaccination, medical assistance and long-term care;

to provide quality care and assistance to pets in our communities that are ill, injured, or unwanted;

to provide information that will help Washington residents learn more about their pets, when and where they can have them, and how best to bring them into the care of the agency that administers the health plan, the veterinarian, and the shelter;

to establish partnerships with Washington State universities, veterinarians, animal control providers, veterinarians’ offices and other entities to disseminate, distribute services, and educate individuals on the health care services available for pets and their owners.
