I’ve heard it takes 2-3 sessions. I’m assuming that the black ink is removed with a surgical technique called transection. In addition, there are a few variations of removal, depending on tattoo design (see image for example).
It’s hard to know how many appointments it might take to remove the tattoo. And I do feel sorry for the poor tattoo artist. He’s worked hard to capture this incredible image that has now become his work. But maybe you can help him by asking yourself this one question: What happens if his clients have no ink in their bodies (i.e., their tattoos are still in their system)? What will happen to his project?
And if I might take a moment to ask you a question: If no tattoo in your body, how long would it take that a client who gets tattoos removed and gets another pair of black tattoos to find a tattoo artist for them?

There’s a reason you see so many “machines in a box” in science and engineering textbooks and, worse, many times people ask how we can have a machine if it doesn’t just “look right”.
Well, I thought I’d take a stab at how it’s done in a paper I just released, which explains how we make a “Box In A Box” using a 3D printer. (Note to readers: this is not a real machine and does not use a real 3D printer.)
While I was working on the paper, I discovered that an “invertible” box has been used in a number of interesting and clever projects by designers and artists to create what seems like a “real machine” but in fact just shows you how we create our objects.
This was a neat moment when I realized how we can make a Box In A Box, without a real 3D printer, using a 3D printing protocol like the Makerbot Replicator and the Thingiverse platform
