#Russiagate so far is more like a Russian/CIA campaign to ruin Donald Trump for America. — Michael Cernovich (@Cernovich) October 30, 2016

“I was the first on the #Russiagate bandwagon!” Cernovich writes at the start of the story. In the story, he claims the Russian government did not have the means to launch a full-scale influence operation in the U.S., but they did launch “a campaign in the name of democracy in Trump’s name.”
The story includes this excerpt:
The Russian government sent a series of operatives to infiltrate and hack computers in Trump’s campaign. They were given false credentials and were told to fake emails to look authentic. By early March, there were more than a half gigabytes of data—all email messages, all text messages, all passwords—in various Russian-language websites, and tens of thousands of internal servers for the Republican Party, many of which appeared to be hacked into.
According to a Daily Beast report published on Monday, Cernovich’s own account of the incident makes reference to “calls to the CIA, U.S. Embassy in Russia and the FBI headquarters in Washington.”
The Russian effort, according to Cernovich, was not limited to hacking into the Trump campaign, but extended beyond the campaign and included more conventional espionage methods, like planting evidence in computer networks of Hillary Clinton. The story also alleges that the CIA, FBI and White House, in concert, organized an elaborate effort to undermine the Trump administration.
One theory espoused by Cernovich has it that there was an undercover operation, in which Russian spies disguised as campaign workers helped to set up “fugitive” Donald Trump Jr. in a clandestine meeting in Trump Tower in New York with an intermediary who promised dirt on Hillary Clinton. The plan is said to have involved the meeting in January 2017; Cernovich argues that there was the first public confirmation that Trump aides colluded with Moscow before the first day of his presidency.
