How do you become a master architect? How do you become a master farmer? There’s two paths through life, and it takes a certain mindset to go along with it.
The two paths through life, I believe, are: ‘You are what you perceive to be, and what is perceived to be is you’. Or: ‘I am what I am perceived to be, and it is not me’.
The former path is better because, you know, you have to come up with your own ways of working on the things you have. This is fine, but if you are really doing it all by yourself, then what you do is limited.
A really good example of this is the Chinese art of calligraphy. It’s a really beautiful art which really helped people become more self-sufficient. But you have to realize that what you think is “good” doesn’t mean that “good” is going to work anymore. If what you think is “good” is not going to help in the long run, this is the time you need to learn to step back and look at life with an open mind. Look at all the other things that can help you in the long run.
You don’t have any way to be sure that what you are doing is right at any given moment. There is no such thing as “right” or “wrong” anymore, only what is true. You just have to trust in this truth and let it guide you. That is when you get to see things in a new way and start to see the world in a different way. You will start to know who you really are.
At the beginning of your time as an adult, you might feel like you’re a pretty reasonable person after all, but once you’ve lived your daily life this way, you find that, no, you’re not.
But it’s a long-term process, and it’s very easy to get wrapped up in trying to change the circumstances in which you live so that you can “make things happen”. But if you are not doing that, then that life is not going to change and you’ll just stay stuck in that reality forever.
So I’d really say that your only option is to let go and just be yourself. It’s not about how you’re acting or what you are thinking, it’s about just being; just being.
You should not be trying to make the world go away or trying to mold it into a
